Welcome to all classmates and to any outsiders that might be viewing in. We are in for a very interesting journey in the weeks to come.

This particular course; ICT Applications in Libraries is very relevant to the current place libraries are finding themselves in. Librarains have come to recognise that just having shelves and shelves of books are not enough to keep all patrons interested in the library anymore. Librarians need to take that step and move their libraries into this cyber world.
Learning about applications such as Web 2.0 makes us as librarians aware that we need to start interacting with our communities in the cyber world. The internet must also become a source of communication with our patron community.
By starting a Facebook page or a simple blog, allows us to have a presence in this cyber world. By doing this people can view and comment on any happenings at the libraries.
The lecture of the 20th February was very relevant to Brooklyn Library because we have just recently started a Blog and a Facebook page. The lesson has provided us with guidelines as to what should be put onto these sights.

Local libraries are very much still in the infancy stage with regards to this matter but as time passes librarians will gain more knowledge and grow in this cyber world.
